And You Think *YOU* Have Problems...

I saw this video earlier this week on our early morning news, and several thoughts came to mind...First, watch the video, and then we'll discuss...(We'll, I'll discuss, you can comment if you like.)

The news reader said, "Coming up, watch what happens to a bungee cord jumper after she heads towards alligator infested waters!"

This is when the thoughts came to mind.

First:  WHAT IN THE HELL IS ANYONE DOING JUMPING FROM A BRIDGE TIED BY THEIR FEET FROM A RUBBER BAND?  Simple, I guess.  Because it is there, or some other freaky reason that people do things like this.  (Not that this needs to be said, but I am not one for these sorts of adventures.  I just run into buildings on fire.)

Second:  If you watch at the very beginning of the video, someone actually PUSHES this daredevil off the platform, thereby giving her NO time to back out, change her mind, stall, or otherwise not do what she is about to do.

Third:  Does this poor adventurer really give a rip if there are alligators in the waters below?  Seemingly, she is unconcerned about the rapids or the rocks down there.

Fourth:  WHAT IN THE HELL IS ANYONE DOING JUMPING FROM A BRIDGE TIED BY THEIR FEET FROM A RUBBER BAND?  I hate to repeat and yell, but I mean, really?  REALLY?

Can't you just climb a mountain or run into a burning house, or spend some time at the DMV Office for kicks?

Fifth:  Life is funny.  What happened to this yo-yo (which she should have been) is funny to me.  I know, I know, and I'll probably go to hell for this, but here goes.  For instance, if, as the rubber band broke, and the poor jumper was either eaten by alligators, dashed upon the rocks below, or just perished after hitting the water at terminal velocity, I just don't think I could feel sorry for her.  This reminds me of a quote by one of the best writers of all time, Mel Brooks:

"Tragedy is when I cut my finger.  Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die."
Just a few thoughts from someone who plans to keep his feet firmly on the ground.

See you tomorrow.
